Cochin International Airport (COK) is Kerala’s proud gateway and a genuine world first. In August 2015, it became the first airport anywhere on the planet to run fully on solar power. It generates enough energy from its own solar farm to cover its needs across the year.
Cochin International Airport is located in Nedumbassery, approximately 25 kilometres north-east of Ernakulam city centre. It is about 30 km from Fort Kochi and is a key gateway to South India. This airport is built and run by CIAL (Cochin International Airport Limited). It was India’s first airport developed this way.
The airport handled over 11 million passengers in FY2024-25 and crossed the 10-million mark for the fourth consecutive year.

Cochin International Airport terminals
COK operates three terminals, but only two handle regular commercial flights.
- Terminal 3 (T3)
Terminal 3 handles all international arrivals and departures. It became operational in phases from 2023/2024, significantly increasing the airport’s capacity. The terminal has 10 biometric kiosks installed to streamline arrival processing for foreign nationals.
- Terminal 1 (T1)
Terminal 1 handles all domestic flights. It is integrated with T3, both terminals are under one large roof and connected via a central area. The terminals are well-signed, and transferring between domestic and international areas is straightforward within the building.
- Terminal 2 (T2)
Terminal 2 is used for executive and charter flights only. This terminal is also where the 0484 Aero Lounge is located.

T1 and T3 are approximately 1 km apart. A free shuttle bus connects them, running every 20 minutes.
COK Arrivals & Departures
Landing in Kochi: International passengers arrive at Terminal 3. After disembarking, you’ll clear immigration (with biometric kiosks available), collect your baggage, and pass through customs. Domestic arrivals come into Terminal 1.
Leaving from Kochi: International departures operate from Terminal 3. Domestic departures use Terminal 1. The two terminals are connected under one roof, but allow extra time if you need to transfer.
