Hyderabad Airport (HYD): What Every Flyer Should Know

About Hyderabad Airport

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is one of India’s most awarded airports. Located in Shamshabad, approximately 25 kilometres south of Hyderabad’s city centre, it replaced the old Begumpet Airport in 2008 and has since become a major gateway to South-Central India.

The Hyderabad Airport operates from a single, integrated terminal building. There are no terminal transfers, no separate domestic and international buildings. Also, arrivals and departures are on separate levels, with domestic and international flights having distinct piers. However, everything is interconnected. The airport is known for its efficiency, short walking distances, and clear signage.

The airport is a hub for Air India’s domestic operations and a major base for IndiGo, India’s largest carrier.
