South India’s busiest aviation gateway

About Kolkata Airport

Kolkata Airport, officially known as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU), is the primary aviation hub for eastern India and the gateway to the City of Joy. Located in Dum Dum, approximately 17 kilometres north-east of the city centre. It is one of India’s oldest airports, having first opened in 1924 as the Calcutta Aerodrome. The airport was renamed in 1995 in honour of Subhas Chandra Bose, a prominent leader of the Indian independence movement.

Handling around 18 million passengers annually, CCU is the sixth-busiest airport in India and the largest air traffic hub in the eastern region. The airport has undergone a massive transformation recently, culminating in a single integrated terminal that handles both domestic and international flights under one roof.
