Singapore Airlines Frequent Flyer Program – Perks and Benefits

SIngapore Airline Frequent Flyer Program

Last updated on Jun 6th, 2023 by Heena Ganotra

Singapore Airlines frequent flyer program is one of the most popular in the world. Known as the KrisFlyer program, it offers excellent benefits for members. The program allows members to earn miles and redeem them for flights, hotel stays, car rentals, and other rewards. The miles are earned based on the number of flights taken and the amount of money spent. Travelling on any Singapore Airlines alliance flight can help you save money in the long run.

What is Singapore Airline Frequent Flyer Program?

Singapore Airline’s program or KrisFlyer Program offers a range of benefits. Besides, you can earn Singapore Airlines points based on your engagement with the airline and enjoy a wide range of perks. It is ideal for people who like to travel in comfort and get more from their trips. As Singapore Airlines flights are very popular, many travellers enjoy the benefits of this program.

How to Earn Singapore Airline Points?

There are several ways to earn points and rewards. Members can earn miles for every dollar spent on airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, and dining. They also receive bonus miles for dining at select restaurants and for shopping at selected malls. Let’s look at how you can earn points in detail:

1. Flying Singapore Airlines

You can earn KrisFlyer miles on every Singapore Airlines flight you take. The number of miles you get depends on your destination, ticket value, class, and inflight spending. The number of miles you earn on each flight is mentioned in brackets right alongside your class of travel. For example, you may see Economy Class (Number) on your ticket and that number is the number of points earned. You can earn around 200% points travelling First Class, 150% to 125% while travelling Business Class, 125% to 100% while travelling Premium Economy, and 100% to 50% while travelling Economy. The exact number will be mentioned on your ticket.

2. Fly with Scoot

Scoot is Singapore Airline’s low-cost carrier and one of the most well-known Singapore partner airlines. If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable option while still earning flyer miles, Scoot is a good choice. As it is a low-cost carrier (read the Scoot Review here), the benefits aren’t as substantial as flying proper Singapore Airlines flights. However, you still earn some miles. While this airline doesn’t offer First Class or Suites, it does offer Business Class which will give you 25%. Economy Class will give you 20% to 10%.

3. Flying with Singapore Airlines Partners

Flying with Singapore Airlines partners is also a great way to accumulate points. You can earn substantial rewards based on your itinerary. For example, if you fly with Air India from Mumbai to Singapore and with Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Melbourne, you will earn a significant number of points on the trip. Usually, flyers earn 150% in First Class or Suites, 125% in Business Class, and 100% in Premium Economy and Economy if you travel by Air India. The list of Singapore Airlines partners includes:

  • Aegean Airlines
  • Air Canada
  • Air India
  • Air China
  • All Nippon Airways
  • Air New Zealand
  • Asiana Airlines
  • Lufthansa
  • Thai Airways
  • United Airlines
  • Jetblue
  • Virgin Australia
  • Vistara

If any of these airlines are a part of your itinerary, you may be able to earn points on your trip. You can use a Singapore Airlines points calculator to calculate the number of points you will earn during your trip. All you need to do is enter your trip details and the calculator will provide an estimate.

4. Kris+

Did you know that you can earn miles even when you’re not flying? With Kris+, members can earn up to 6% of every dollar spent with Singapore Airlines frequent flyer partners. For example, if you shop at partner malls or with affiliated members, you can earn as much as 9 miles for every Singapore Dollar spent. Kris+ partners are available in countries outside of Singapore as well. You can earn miles in Australia, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, and Hong Kong as well. You could also use a Singapore Airlines credit card to earn points with every spend.

5. KrisShop

As we mentioned before, shopping in the inflight store can also help you win miles. When you shop from KrisShop’s curated selection of products, you can inflate your miles considerably. All you need to do is shop during the flight or place an order in advance and get your product during your Singapore Airlines or Scoot flight. The product will be handed over to you during the flight or you can get it delivered directly to your doorstep. Both options are available! There’s a wide range of options available and you can get everything from keyboards to skincare items. Thus, KrisShop is a great way to earn miles if you don’t plan to travel often.

Types of Frequent Flyer Programs

Singapore Airlines offers different types of flyer programs based on the number of points you have.

  • KrisFlyer – The base-layer program that’s free to join and offers a wide range of perks.
  • KrisFlyer Elite Silver – Available to flyers with more than 25,000 miles.
  • KrisFlyer Elite Gold – Available to flyers with more than 50,000 miles.

Every program has different perks and benefits for you to explore. The more you fly and spend, the more you receive in the form of rewards.

How Can You Redeem Your Singapore Airlines Points?

This program offers a variety of benefits for members. They can use their miles to purchase tickets to any destination in the world, including Melbourne to Mumbai flights and more. They can also use them to purchase hotel stays, car rentals, and other rewards as well. Members can also get their Singapore Airlines upgrade if they have enough miles. For example, if you want to upgrade from Premium Economy to Business Class, it is possible by just using the miles. Some travellers also combine their miles with cash to get tickets, upgrades, and other services.

Well, that’s all you need to know about Singapore Airlines membership and frequent flyer program.
